Job Description:The Director of Marketing will be a seasoned and strategic marketing executive with proven experience in a world-class organization selling to leading industrial OEM’s. He/she will develop market performance goals and implement plans which align with company goals. The Director is responsible for the product positioning strategy and execution and provides oversight of all marketing operations globally. In this position the candidate must understand customer needs, market trends, and technology innovation and be able to develop products, pricing, marketing communications, sales tools and life cycle plans in order to successfully drive business growth. This individual's result will be measured by accelerated sales and margin growth. This is a key leadership position in the group that provides an outstanding development opportunity and career path into general management positions of greater size and complexity. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Product Line Management and New Product Development
- Work proactively with sales, marketing and engineering to define and execute new market opportunities and product enhancements.
- Develop multi-year product line strategies to provide vision and resource planning information to R&D.
- Maximize return on new product development investment by building business cases for new opportunities and prioritizing product development projects so as to use engineering resources efficiently while producing the maximum impact on sales and market share growth.
- Analyze product placement by describing key features of the applications and points of differentiation in partnership with the Product Sales Specialists.
- Manage product life cycle from development of requirements, to product development, launch, sustaining and phase-out phases.
- Develop and execute product launch schedules and take ownership of marketing plan (4 P’s). This includes product and marketing strategies, goals and objectives that are unified and consistent with the strategic plan.
- Streamline and manage pricing strategy. Accountable for product line profitability and sales growth.
- Manage customer segmentation and support profitability improvement programs.
- Market Trends and Strategic Management
- Develop deep understanding of target vertical markets, customer needs and the competitive landscape; monitor competitors and marketing activities.
- Research, synthesize, and rationalize key market trends in emergency notification as it applies to the company's existing products, customers, positioning and strategies.
- Cultivate acquisitions and business development opportunities.
- Bring best practices and professional management to product management discipline to ensure predictability, market relevance, and quality of the group's solutions portfolio.
- Understand and articulate product and customer requirements by analyzing customer applications, market size and projected market growth.
- Mentor Product Managers. Assist product Managers in developing defined roadmaps and strategies. Develop and lead training methods to instill a more strategic marketing process.
- Cultivate acquisitions and business development opportunities.
- Marketing Communications
- Develop marketing campaigns with sound measurement to monitor and report effectiveness, leading to continuous improvement of experience, business results, and deeper customer relationships.
- Utilize performance metrics and ROI analysis to assess current programs and procedures.
- Work with internal teams to develop and implement integrated content, promotions, and creative campaigns required to drive growth and maximize customer value.
- Develop and oversee marketing and promotional activities with internal and external strategic partners.
- Work closely with the product manager and development teams to drive true market VOC, develop and maintain the value propositions for products, and create and develop marketing product launch plans in alignment with Roadmaps defined by product management.
- Develop strategies, programs, activities and opportunities for lead generation.
- Continuously develop a single worldwide brand identity in support of the the company's values and mission, ensure approval and brand consistency, ensure measurement of brand awareness, establish and monitor the implementation of brand asset management policies and metrics.
Job Requirements:
- Relevant Experience: Prior Director of Marketing experience within an organization realizing sales of $100M (7-10 years) at an industrial products company is desired. Global experience is necessary.
- Marketing Strategy Development: Has had ownership of significant marketing strategy development with sustained, measurable and profitable results. Hands-on development and recommendation of product and market penetration strategies to business unit leaders that has delivered market share, sales growth and profitability.
- Analytical Rigor: Conceptual, strategic, but able to probe into specifics when necessary. Analytical and fact-based most of the time, but able to draw on intuition. Able to reduce an overwhelming amount of information into a few salient issues to focus on. The ability to prioritize the most relevant from all other issues.
- Powerful communication: The ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and on paper. The ability to build consensus with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to build partnerships internally and externally.
- Educational Credentials: The right candidate will possess a Masters in Business Administration from a top-tier educational institution and a strong GMAT score. An undergraduate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred.
