Job Description:

The Plant Manager role at this company is a critical one for the company, and will have significant impact on the long term success of the organization. This individual will play the major role in taking the plant to the next level from an operational perspective. The most critical function for this individual will be understanding and driving operational excellence through the plant in all functional areas.

The Plant Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing manufacturing and administrative improvement opportunities within the facility. A major part of the Plant Manager role will be embracing Lean Principle Plans directed towards specific manufacturing and performance improvement.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  1. Operational Excellence: Promotes the need to continually improve by promoting a stronger teamwork atmosphere. Drives safety and quality improvements for employees and customers that leads towards becoming a world-class enterprise. Assist in the development and planning of projects within the facility to identify anticipated benefits, quantify targeted results, establish measurement criteria and assist in prioritization of initiatives involving:
    • Human Development
    • Planning
    • Inventory
    • Manufacturing/Production
    • Cost
    • Quality
    • Supply Chain
    • Safety
  2. Leadership: Must be able to motivate people in the organization to work toward a common goal. Reinforcing facility improvement initiatives by building consensus among the production staff is critical. Continue to build upon the trust established by the previous manager

  4. Teamwork: Train, mentor and coach others in applying tools and methodologies within their given functional areas to dive continuous improvement
  5. .
  6. Communication Skills: Tremendous communication skills are necessary. This individual is comfortable both on the shop floor and in front of the Executive team. Must be able to communicate with diplomacy and tact
  7. .
  8. Business Unit Interfacing: Establish and maintain strong working relationships across all business units and all levels of the organization. Alignment of project deck to Corporate and Division operating goals and objectives. High level of interaction with Sales and Marketing is necessary

  10. Accountability: Assume responsibility for daily communication and formal project reviews with manufacturing, administrative personnel and management
  11. .
  12. Audit Experience: Well versed in external(FAA) and internal audits. Has the ability to navigate through uncomfortable exchanges and build rapport quickly with auditors.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Industry Experience: The ideal candidate will possess ten to fifteen years in a heavy manufacturing setting, with a significant portion of that time in a position of Plant manager. The ideal candidate will have experience with machining, ovens and assembly in a manufacturing setting.
  2. Operational Excellence: Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and problem solving resulting in continuous improvement throughout the organization by focusing on the needs of the customer, empowering employees, and optimizing existing activities in the process.
  3. Leadership: Highly developed relationship-building skills. Must be able to develop relationship quickly. Gaining the trust of the production employees is paramount for this individual.
  4. Lean Principles Experience: A proven track record of leading and executing process improvement in a dedicated Lean/Six Sigma environment...and the accompanying results being significant revenue savings. This individual will be able to detail and describe the tool kit utilized to drive significant improvement results.
  5. Formal Training: Formal lean training in Value Stream Management tools, Kaizen. SMED and other Lean tools and methodologies. As well as successful lean deployment.
  6. Powerful Communication: The ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and on paper. The ability to interface with other business units and senior executives is critical for success. Weekly new product introduction meetings with Sales and Marketing are necessary.
  7. Engineering Aptitude: Ability to design, redesign and/or improve tooling and fixtures on the shop floor.
  8. Educational Credentials: The right candidate will possess at least a BS in an Engineering discipline. Mechanical Engineering is ideal, but other disciplines with the right professional background will be considered. MBA preferred.
  9. Computer Skills: Proficient understanding of Microsoft Suite, including MS Project. Experience with an ERP system (DataFlow) AutoCAD is a bonus, strong math/statistical skills needed.
